Document types
Royal Decree 933/2021 accepts six identity document types for guest registration. Each has specific requirements that the form enforces automatically.

Detail by type
DNI (Spain)
- Spanish National Identity Document. Spanish citizens only.
- Requires last name 2 and support number (printed on the back of the card, next to the CAN on DNI 3.0). If the guest has no second surname, they must enter a hyphen (-) in that field.
Passport
- International document accepted for any nationality, including Spanish.
- No second last name or support number required.
NIE (Foreigner Identity Number)
- For foreigners with a Spanish residence permit.
- Requires last name 2 and support number (on the TIE card). If the guest has no second surname, they must enter a hyphen (-) in that field.
EU citizen registration certificate
- For EU/EEA/Switzerland citizens resident in Spain.
- Requires support number but no second last name.
Foreign national ID
- For EU/EEA citizens on a tourist stay (non-resident in Spain).
- No second last name or support number required.
Travel document
- Special documents issued by international bodies or by the Spanish Ministry to refugees, stateless persons, and other special cases.
- No second last name or support number required.
Why the requirements matter
Required fields are imposed by the Ministry of the Interior. If any are missing when a guest tries to sign, the form tells them what's needed —"To sign you need the support number (back of your DNI/NIE)" or "To sign you need a second surname. If you only have one, enter a hyphen (-)"— and blocks the signature until the field is filled.
